A new, three-level railway station is a key component of the New Downtown of Łódź concept. The station has four platforms and eight tracks. The new station is able to serve 20 times more passengers than the previous infrastructure. The project included modernization of railroad tracks in the direction of Łódź Widzew along the section of about 2.5 km and building a tunnel for long-distance, regional and urban trains, which is about 1700 metres long.
The modern railway station became a part of the multi-modal transport junction, connecting, in the downtown part of the city, urban and conventional railway, long distance buses, city transport and private car transport.
Due to arrangement by the Parties of the project of an extension of the completion time and a failure to arrange refund of costs associated with the extension, the Contractor hired independent Experts to get technical support in the dispute.
Our Experts and Specialists rendered the following services in association with the dispute:
Preparation of the private evaluation was divided into the following stages:
The private opinion developed by the Expert specified the value of rational claims of the Contractor. This calculation served as a basis for the value of the claim for payment.
During further proceedings, the Experts rendered advisory services consisting of technical support in the mediation procedure until settlement.
Thanks to the properly developed cost refund calculation methodology in association with extension of the completion time, the Contractor calculated the damages correctly. The clear Expert’s evaluation supported the process of preparation of a court suit, and thus allowed for making a claim in court before completion of the project.
During further proceedings, verification by the Expert of the calculation prepared by the Contractor influenced the effective course of the mediation procedure, which led to settlement between the Contractor and the Employer concerning the additional remuneration for the project implementation of total value of approximately PLN 63 million.
