🌍 On November 14, 2024, representatives from the railway industry, contractors, and clients gathered at the XIV Railway Congress to discuss the key challenges and growth opportunities for railway transport in Poland.
🔎 The opening debate “One Year After the Elections: What Ratings Does the Market Give?” highlighted significant issues faced by the Polish railway market in 2024 and presented various proposals for changes in response to economic and legislative difficulties.
➡ Representatives from contracting companies pointed out:
– Railway market recession – ongoing for several years, worsened by the lack of tenders, especially for medium and smaller projects.
– Disorder in the situation with PKP PLK – the lack of a clear cooperation strategy between contracting companies and infrastructure management.
– Excessive foreign competition – easy access to tenders for companies from outside the EU, making it difficult for Polish businesses to win contracts.
– Financial issues – the need for cost indexation reform and regulation of payment terms for extended project completion times.
➡ Clients’ Perspective: Planning and Financial Stability
Clients emphasized that the key priority for 2024 and the coming years is financial stabilization in the sector to ensure continuous development and modernization of the railway network.
– Work has started on centralizing the budget and effectively planning new investments.
– In 2025, PKP PLK plans to announce tenders worth 15 billion PLN, focusing on projects that have a real impact on infrastructure development. A challenge here is also the need to make decisions based on long-term market needs analysis.
đź’ˇ The meeting showed that the Polish railway sector faces serious challenges but also great opportunities. Collaboration and the implementation of modern solutions are the key to overcoming the crisis and building a stable future for railways in Poland.
đź‘Ź We sincerely congratulate the Economic Advisors TOR Team, Railway Market Publishing, and the Railway Business Forum for organizing such a successful and substantive event.
